The beach

Anse Georgette in short.

A short curve of white sand in the north-west corner of Praslin, reached across the Constance Lemuria estate or by boat. Smaller than Anse Lazio, emptier, and by most accounts the more beautiful of the two.

Which months

North-west facing, so May to September is the calm window. The bay is small and steep and can have a shore break when there is swell running.

The beach

Access is the whole story

Anse Georgette is a public beach on private land. The walk in crosses the Constance Lemuria golf course and the resort controls the gate, so non-guests need to telephone in advance and numbers on any given day are limited. Guests walk in freely.

The alternative is to arrive by boat, which several Praslin operators do as part of a half-day around the north of the island. That also gets you there early, which is the difference between an empty beach and a shared one.

The beach

The beach itself

Perhaps two hundred metres of very fine white sand between granite, with the water going from clear to turquoise to deep blue in about thirty metres. There is nothing on it: no kiosk, no chairs, no shade past the tree line.

The bay is steep, which is why the colour is what it is and also why the water can be lively. It is not the beach for small children on a day with any swell.
