There is one nonstop, and it goes from Mumbai
IndiGo opened a direct Mumbai to Mahé service on 22 March 2025, four flights a week. It is the only nonstop between the two countries and it turns a long day with a change into a morning flight. From anywhere else in India you are connecting, almost always through a Gulf hub, and the trip becomes something between eleven and eighteen hours door to door depending on how the connection falls.

The nonstop, and what it is not
IndiGo announced the route on 28 February 2025 and started flying it on 22 March, four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, as 6E 1855 out and 6E 1856 back. Seychelles was its thirty-ninth international destination.
That is history, not a timetable. The launch announcement has the Mumbai departure at 07:20 and the panel above, today, shows the same route leaving at 10:10. Both are correct and the difference is eighteen months of schedule changes. Frequencies move with the season too. Treat the panel as the live answer and this paragraph as the reason the route exists at all.
What the nonstop is worth is not the four hours and a half in the air. It is that you land in the early afternoon with the whole day still in front of you, which decides if you make the ferry, and that is the difference between reaching Praslin on the day you arrive and paying for a night on Mahé you did not plan.
This is not the first nonstop, and that is worth knowing
India and Seychelles signed an air services agreement in 1981 and a second one in August 2015, so the legal right to fly the route has been in place for forty years. Flying it has been the harder part.
Air Seychelles opened a direct Mahé to Mumbai service on 2 December 2014, three times a week, under a memorandum signed that September. It did not hold at that frequency. India's own bilateral brief, dated 27 August 2024, records the connection as down to a single weekly flight by then. Seven months after that, IndiGo started the current nonstop at four a week.
None of that is a reason to worry about the flight you are looking at. It is a reason to book the route rather than assume it, and to check the live panel above rather than a blog post from last year. A thin route between two small markets is a route that moves.
If you are not flying from Mumbai
Everything else is a connection and almost all of it goes through the Gulf. Look at the total elapsed time rather than the fare, because a routing that saves you eight thousand rupees and adds nine hours in a transit lounge is not cheaper, it is a day of the holiday spent sitting down.
Two things are worth checking before you press book on any itinerary, on this panel or anywhere else. That your bags are checked through to Mahé, and that the whole journey is on one ticket. A metasearch will happily build you a cheaper trip out of two separate tickets, which is fine until the first flight is late, at which point the second airline owes you nothing and the saving disappears in one afternoon.
The other one is the connection time itself. A ninety minute change in a large hub with a terminal transfer is not a ninety minute change. Give it three hours if the second leg is the only one that day, which on this route it very often is.

Seychelles International sits at Pointe Larue on the east coast of Mahé, about fifteen minutes from Victoria. It has one terminal, arrivals is a single hall, and on a normal day you are through it and outside in twenty minutes.
What matters is the clock. The inter-island ferry runs in daylight and the last sailing of the day leaves Victoria in the afternoon, so a flight that lands in the evening means a night on Mahé, planned or not. If your booking is on Praslin or La Digue, work backwards from the ferry timetable before you choose the flight, not after. The domestic hop to Praslin flies later than the boat does and is the usual answer when the arrival is tight.
Car hire is the same problem in a smaller shape. A handover at the airport is simple in daylight and awkward in the dark on roads you have never driven. Our cars are delivered to the terminal, the jetty or the hotel, so if you are landing late the honest answer is to take a transfer that night and pick the car up in the morning.
What immigration actually asks for
There is no visa to apply for. Seychelles does not issue a tourist visa to anybody of any nationality, and an Indian passport holder is granted a visitor's permit at the border on the same footing as everybody else. There is no embassy appointment and no visa fee.
There is one thing to do before you fly, which is the online travel authorisation. Airlines check for it at the gate and you will not board without it. Apply through the official government portal rather than through an agency site charging more for the same form.
At the desk they ask for a passport valid for the stay, a confirmed return or onward ticket, confirmed accommodation for every night of the trip and sufficient funds. Accommodation for the whole stay is the one that catches people out. Our entry page sets all of it out properly.
Book the month before you book the fare
The cheapest week of the year is often the wrong week to be here, and the difference is not rain. It is wind. From December to March the sheltered coasts are the south and the east, and from May to September they are the north and the west. April and October sit between the two systems and every coast on every island goes calm at once.
That decides which side of the island your hotel should be on, which is a larger factor in how the week feels than the fare was. The calm calendar sets it out month by month, with the Indian holiday windows marked against it, and it is worth ten minutes before you commit to dates.
One more thing worth knowing, because almost nothing else on the internet says it. The islands are not a coral atoll, they are a piece of continental granite that was joined to India until about sixty-six million years ago, and the rock is the same rock. It makes the flight feel shorter.
