St Pierre in short.
St Pierre is a heap of rounded granite with a tuft of palms on top, sitting in clear water off the Côte d'Or on Praslin. It is too small to walk on and it is one of the most reproduced images in the country.

Snorkelling among the granite
The rock continues underwater, and the shallow, sheltered channels between the submerged boulders hold coral and reef fish in numbers that make this one of the best snorkelling stops around Praslin. It is calm, it is shallow, and it is a twenty-minute hop from the jetty.
It is almost always visited as part of the Curieuse day rather than on its own.
Not the other St Pierre
There is a second St Pierre in the Farquhar group, seven hundred kilometres to the south west, and a third in the North Atlantic. Photographs of all three circulate under the same name. This one is the small granite one off Praslin.
