Cerf Island Resort is twenty-four rooms and villas spread across a green hillside above the water on Cerf, one of the small granite islands inside the Sainte Anne Marine National Park, reached by a short boat ride from Eden Island on Mahé.
It holds 4.4 from more than a hundred and sixty reviews, the lowest score on this page, and we would rather say why than leave it unexplained. The setting and the team are consistently praised. What some guests find limited is the restaurant menu, which on an island where the only other option is a boat ride is a fair thing to weigh before you book.
The service is what fills the reviews, from the boat crew who meet you at Eden Island to the restaurant team, named individually and repeatedly. There is a day pass as well, if you want the beach and lunch without the night.
Where it stands.
Cerf is one of the small islands in the Sainte Anne Marine National Park, the cluster just off Victoria on the east side of Mahé. It is green, low-key and largely car-free, and the protected water all around is calm and full of fish, so the snorkelling starts at the beach rather than from a boat. Sainte Anne, Round Island and Moyenne can be visited by boat. Victoria, the beaches of Mahé and the airport are all about half an hour away across the water.

Couples and families who want the marine park and the snorkelling. Weigh the restaurant before you commit to a week, because on a small island you eat where you sleep.
